OYSP has an opportunity to partner with the National League of Cities and the organization’s Re-Engagement Network to focus on strategic cities of focus to grow our movement of OY schools, improve re-engagement efforts, and strengthen postsecondary and career pathways with Opportunity Youth.
For a growing number of 35 sites across the country the Re-Engagement Network promotes the sharing and adoption of policies and practices that effectively re-engage OY, improve systems and remove obstacles. NLC is also partnering with a subset of participating sites to expand capacity to assess needs & capabilities, consult with OY, create a local implementation plan and expand local infrastructure through re-engagement centers or programs.
OYSP and NLC are developing partnership plans to ensure some of these cities can align local infrastructure development with the needs for planning, launching, operating and succeeding with new OY schools. Work in these communities will include:
